Rodriquez - Legend

Post by Christie on Fri 22 Jun 2018 - 23:56

Rodriquez was a idol in South Africa during the seventy's and a superstar, He disappeared from the scene and after investigations and research by 2 South Africans was found to be alive and well and staying in Detroit, Michigan where he worked as a bricklayer. He wasn't even aware that he was a superstar in South Africa and was unknown in the USA, He was brought to South Africa to perform live during 1998 and this clip shows you the excitement he created whilst touring here. A film called " Searching for Sugar man " was released that tells the story. Great stuff man. Watch on You tube if video does not play.

Searching for Sugar man

Post by Christie on Sun 24 Jun 2018 - 14:39

To all my friends who liked my previous post on Rodriquez.
Here is the trailer of the documentary on him.

For those interested, click on the link below to watch the full documentary on the search for Rodriquez
In Searching for Sugar Man, two South African mega-fans embark on a quest to find out what really happened to Rodriguez and are shocked by what they discover. Rodriguez is indeed alive and completely oblivious to his fame abroad. As a result of this documentary, his music career has been unexpectedly revived.

Searching for Sugar Man (2012) | WatchDocumentaries.com

American musician Sixto Rodriguez disappeared into obscurity in his home country after leaving the music scene in the 1970s. But unbeknownst to him, his albums had become a massive hit in South Africa where it was widely rumoured that he had committed suicide.
